Capricorn - Your Geometric Arrow
By Lesley Taylorin Steampunk Astrologer newsA Cardinal Sign
I’ve drawn an arrow for each of the 12 signs and here is all the information encoded in the Capricorn arrow.
Capricorn is one of the four CARDINAL signs (the other three are Cancer, Aries and Libra) Cardinal signs like to take action and can be quite ambitious. The glyph or symbol for cardinal is like an upward pointing arrow with a dot in the middle of the open part of the arrow. On my Capricorn arrow, you see the symbol almost at the top.
An Earth Sign
Earth is the element of Capricorn and the glyph or symbol for this is a downward pointing triangle with a line across it. The other Earth signs are Taurus and Virgo. As you might expect, those with earth strong in their chart are quite practical, down to earth types. The symbol on Capricorn’s arrow is just below midway. I’ve also put the symbol for Earth at the very bottom of the arrow – a circle with a cross
Ruling Planet
Each sign of the Zodiac is ruled by a planet (or co-ruled by two). Capricorn is ruled by planet Saturn – immediately recognisable by the beautiful rings surrounding it. All the planets of our solar system are in each person’s chart. Saturn has dominion over rules and regulations, discipline, structure and leadership. It spends about two and a half years in each sign – a fairly slow moving planet in charts. Those with a Capricorn or strong Saturn nature are disciplined, pragmatic and can be quite serious. On Capricorn’s arrow you can see Saturn in the bottom third area.
Groups of Planets
The planets in a chart are described as personal (The “Luminaries” Sun and Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars) and are the more inner planets. Social planets come next (Jupiter and Saturn). Transpersonal or outer planets are Uranus, Neptune and Pluto (yes, yes I KNOW it’s now classed as a dwarf planet but it works as a planet in Astrology and other bodies such as Eris, Ceres etc can also be taken into account in a chart.) Capricorn’s ruling planet therefore is a social planet and almost at the top of the arrow I have drawn two diagonal lines to show this. I draw one for the personal and three for the transpersonal planets.
Capricorn’s Glyph
Each sign has its own glyph or symbol but rather than stay traditional all the way I have incorporated my own idea into each arrow. For Capricorn I have two mountain peaks with the tip of the higher coloured. This is to show that Capricorn has ambition and will eventually, like the mountain goat, reach the pinnacle. The dotted line and diamond symbolise the ‘fish’ tail of the sea goat. Often these people are very sensitive, but this trait is sadly overlooked or hidden by their practical nature. They can be hurt more than people realise.
Capricorn at the Summit
The arrow head starts at the centre. Capricorn may move around to see all aspects of a problem. They may not take the direct route, but rest assured and never doubt that they can find the exit of a labyrinth and come out on top. They only need apply their logic and determination in order to eventually succeed.
To complete the design I have included the constellation of Capricorn. They are drawn in black – the traditional colour of Saturn and Capricorn.
Designs for each sign of the Zodiac are available on my website. Here is the link to Capricorn and here is the link to the collection.
